Los planes de Obama refuerzan la convicción de SWIP en la inversión en infraestructuras estadounidenses

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) ha realizado un análisis del mercado estadounidense y de los planes de estímulo económico del presidente electo Barack Obama, que ha reforzado la convicción de la gestora en el sector de infraestructuras estadounidense.

SWIP ha analizado el sector durante varios meses y considera que el paquete de ayudas económicas propuesto por Obama estimulará la tan necesaria inversión en infraestructuras. SWIP se ha fijado en empresas que se beneficiarán del desarrollo de las infraestructuras en EE.UU. a largo plazo.

Nick Ford, gestor de fondos de renta variable estadounidense de SWIP, comentó: «Valoramos los planes de inversión en infraestructuras de Obama de forma muy positiva. Sin embargo, el estado de la economía ralentizará el gasto en infraestructuras a corto plazo, a pesar de los paquetes de estímulo fiscal que apruebe el Congreso de los EE.UU. Eso no significa que se vaya a cerrar el grifo de la inversión, ya que EE.UU. necesita invertir en bienes de equipo para garantizar la recuperación de la economía a largo plazo». El gestor añadió: «Esto creará oportunidades para las empresas estadounidenses que vendan materiales y servicios para energía, autopistas, puentes y suministro de agua, sectores todos ellos que necesitarán mejoras durante los próximos años».

De acuerdo con el análisis de SWIP, las infraestructuras estadounidenses empiezan a chirriar y esto es algo que no depende de la agenda política del país. Existe una gran cantidad de infraestructuras viejas construidas en las décadas de 1940 y 1950 que necesitan mucha inversión. Ésta es una tendencia que SWIP ha estado siguiendo durante algún tiempo y las carteras de SWIP están configuradas para aprovechar el escenario económico actual, con independencia de que los planes de Obama tengan éxito.

Simon Moss, gestor de fondos de renta variable estadounidense, señaló: «Seguimos empresas como Quanta Services, que fabrica productos para el transporte de energía eléctrica. El gestor de la red eléctrica estadounidense planea externalizar gran parte de su trabajo cuando comience a introducir mejoras en el sistema. Empresas como Quanta se beneficiarán de la inversión a largo plazo en una de las redes de suministro de electricidad más grandes del mundo».

Por el contrario, SWIP es mucho más cauta sobre valores de consumo, ya que su análisis concluye que será la inversión en bienes de equipo lo que más estimulará la economía de EE.UU. y no el consumo privado.
